These views are inspired, not necessarily the opinion of our
members, or potential members, yet. To get us in the right frame of
mind, let us quote several scriptures.
JUSTICE?
YOU HIGH and mighty politicians don't even know the meaning of the word
Fairness? Which of you has any left? Not one! All your
dealings are crooked: you give "justice" in exchange for
bribes.* These men are born sinners, lying from their earliest
words. They are poisonous as deadly snakes, cobras that close
their ears to the most expert of charmers. (TLB)
*Literally, "you deal out the
violence of your hands in the land."
Our understanding of
this is that we were all people pleasers. It took us a long time, in
deed, to get
interested in a beam of light that leads to living a life that is
connected to God's spirit for us, that leads to a life that pleases
God. But we know that God's Son, which became "spirit"
(Luke 23:46), is the only thing that has ever truly pleased God, not us.
But in looking
at recent politicians, and their ways, it is easy to understand the beginning of the
fifty eighth Psalm, which is the beginning of this web page. We are keenly aware that there is a world of
difference in politicians as compared to elder statesmen. The King James
Version substitutes the word lawyers for politicians, in their
translation.
So, the bottom line for us is that we are not here to be popular.
We desire to find a way to live that pleases God, even if that is offensive to people's human senses. We use to be overly sensitive,
too. It took quite a bit of time to get over the serious handicap
of being people pleasers, which is a condition of self-centeredness,
self-confidence, self-righteousness, and self-justification, just to
mention a few of our flaws. Some people call them our defects of
character, which were wrapped up in our human pride, all grounded in our
fears.
