Having
not been successful at finding several quotations, that are needed to substantiate
our position on this topic, we have been slow to get enthusiastic.
One might even say that we have been dreading, or even have procrastinated
in attempting this effort. But until this is achieved, we cannot
move on to the next assignment.
[scribe's note: after this web
page was posted, and linked, we were advised of what the next subject is
to be. very interesting, to say the least. hope you
will stay tuned, and check the topics that have been added, in the bottom
section of our home
page, frequently.]
If you are like most
people, you will have to wade through a lot of expressions that are not
true, to say the least. One such saying, that has been heard, for
most of my life, is "God helps those who help themselves."
Have heard that it was originally said by Thomas Jefferson. That may
not be true, but the saying has been around a long time. Definitely
remember reading, a long time ago, in one translation of the bible,
"God helps those who depend on him."
The two concepts are
in different universes; helping ourselves, or depending on him.
A
lie that permeates most religions is, "Peace on earth, and good will
to all men." Who in their right mind could possibly think that
God would grant peace and good will to any man, or any human being, that
is committing such atrocities to humanity in the form of robbery, murder,
rape, terrorism - global or domestic, abuse, child molesters, deceivers, liars, adulterers,
blackmailers, extortionists, bribers, traffickers, or any other thing, that is from
Satan.
Am sure
that I remember reading, a long time ago, in one translation, "Peace
on earth and good will to men pleasing Him."
One
trite expression that has been heard in anonymous recovery circles is, "If you want potatoes, you had better get a
hoe." The question should be, "wonder if God wants us to have
potatoes," and have that issue resolved, before we decide how we are going
to get same, should the answer be in the affirmative. In defense of
those that have said that, it might be that they are suggesting that if
you desire to be successful in abstinence, you had better start digging
with that hoe, by working the steps; weeding the garden.
So, political correctness continues to hurt humanity, and in
no way does it help, except to expose those who support Satan, and his
ilk. God's son says:
"Anyone
who isn’t helping me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me
is actually working against me." (Matthew
12:30)
Does anyone think that there is any gray
area in that statement? Surely doesn't sound liberal to me, at all.
To really
get this topic started, let us introduce this concept, from page ninety
eight, in the original anonymous text book:
Job or no job - wife or no wife - we simply do not stop drinking so long as we place dependence upon other people ahead of dependence on God.
Guess we
need a little refresher course. In our In
Touch web
page we
express our opinion that if we are not living and working toward something
as important as the Ark was to Noah, in faith, then we are not in touch and on line
with God as good as we might be, and therefore, we are drunk on something,
even if there is no alcohol involved.
Most
people, and all media personalities - print and television, consider the exploration of space as man's final frontier.
Bull s---. The spiritual realm is the final frontier for all of
humanity, and certainly, it can help everyone, rather than exalt just a
teeny tiny minuscule few. Saw on the web recently, a time clock
counting the number of projected births, throughout the planet, and now there
are very close to six and a half billion people, alive, on this
planet. Wonder how many active astronauts there are? Maybe a
hundred or so, from all the nations of the world that explore space?
That sure is an infinitesimally small percentage, isn't it?
The tough
part of this assignment is to try and touch base with what we as humanity
do actually depend on. For a rough start, the western developed
nations depend on wealth, as their guide to progress and success.
Money certainly makes the world of business and finance do it's thing,
which is good, for the billions of people that have something to do.
We find no fault with that concept at all. All humans need to feel
like they are accomplishing something, to make them feel worthwhile.
On the
other hand, for anyone trying to get to God's favor, he clearly states, in
several of the gospels, "You will either love God and hate money, or
love money and hate God." Anybody think that there is any gray
area in that, or is it black and white?
So, we
have to declare a time out for all that seek the Kingdom of God,
concerning the ways of this world. And the more we grow along
spiritual lines, and the more that we understand the scriptures, because
we have lived them, as his son did, successfully, frequently we feel like
we are further away from the goal than when we started, because of all of
the work, left to do, that we already know about.
Lest
anyone get some strange ideas about the preceding paragraph, the bible
states, in the new testament, "We worked day and night, so that we were not a burden to
anyone."
Again,
trying to get in touch with what humanity, here in western culture,
actually depends on, we need to acknowledge that we generally do depend on what the
doctor says, about health issues, and what the lawyer says about legal
matters, and certainly what the accountant says about tax information, not
to mention what the minister, rector, priest, pastor, rabbi, or spiritual
advisor says about a whole host of issues, not once wondering what God
might say about any of the same issues.
The truth
is that humanity thinks that it is apart from God; separated. That is
why the
noahhite concepts are provided, in hopes of reversing the trend. Not only are we connected to and a part
of God, God desires to return to his temple, that God's Son says he will
rebuild in three days. We are now in his third day, since he has
been gone for two thousand years. All y'all remember that God
considers one day a thousand years, based on 2 Peter 3:8, and the millennium
rule of Christ will last one thousand years?
Wonder
why Jesus said, "Physician, heal thy self."
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God for his own sins! But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace.
He was whipped, and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all.
(Isaiah 53:4-6)
And
concerning legal issues, Jesus says, in the gospel of Luke:
"Why can’t you decide for yourselves what is right? If you are on the way to court and you meet your accuser, try to settle the matter before it reaches the judge, or you may be sentenced and handed over to an officer and thrown in jail. And if that happens, you won’t be free again until you have paid the last penny.”
(Luke 12:57-59)
One
translation puts it this way. "Settle your differences out of
court."
What
America needs to learn the most about, from this scribe's perspective, is the
following in the Gospel of Matthew:
Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture:
‘I want you to be merciful; I don’t want your sacrifices.’ For I have come to
call
sinners, not those who think they are already good enough.”
(Matthew 9:13)
What did
you think about the recent jury award of over two hundred and fifty
million dollars, to one person, in a recent trial, here in the good ole U.
S. of A, concerning a medication that was used globally, by many millions
of people? Wonder what kind of number it would be if we multiplied
250 million dollars by five million people? And of course, one third
of that number would go to the trial lawyers.
That makes me wonder if the civil courts are as full to
overflowing as the criminal courts are.
So, why
do so many try to hit a home run, through the legal process, here in
America, rather than hit a home run with God, through mercy, grace, and
forgiveness? Is that portion of America a heathen, like I used to
be, or what? What type of justifications do we use, including
rationalizations, to want to
punish people and businesses, rather than depend of God, for his
justice.
And
during the election cycle of 2004 it was astonishing, to me, how much
emphasis was put on how many jobs had been lost, all attributed to the
administration in office, at the time. For a number of decades,
union labor has been on the decline, and it is not the cause of a
political party.
Am I the only one that
understands that, because of so many law suits, many businesses had rather
do business in another country, in order to avoid class action law
suits, like the tobacco industry got hit with. Who in their right
mind would expose themselves to such abuse?
So, the
trial lawyers, which are predominately democrats, keep the heat on
corporations, and finally they decide to move to other countries, and the
democrats blame the republicans. What kind of malarkey is that?
Next are
the labor unions, predominately on the side of the democrats, which keep
the heat on business, and ultimately, the decision is made to move to
another country, because of cheaper labor costs, and again, the republicans
get blamed for the loss of jobs. How dumb do some think "we the
people" really are, anyway? Hitler was very good at propaganda.
And, Germany was a socialist nation when it was defeated, in world war
two. It seems to this scribe that the left wing of the Democrat's
party, which seems to be in control, at the moment, is socialist in
attitude. And reports seem to state that many of the very big money
people are all socialists, therefore the loyalty from the "left
wing," in the Democrat's party.
Recently
- early Oct. 05, an interviewer asked the most successful American
developer of high rise residential real estate some questions, on national
television, and one of the answers was something like, "All
construction projects in New York City pay the mobs", so that they
can be built. It also came up that the construction industry is
corrupt. My opinion on that is that it is probably true in states
that do not have a "right to work" law.
Let us
ask one question: who runs the mobs? All mobs have some union in
their pocket, whether we will admit it or not. For four decades, or
more, the unions have been in decline, as to the percentage of the total
work force.
The current administration did not start that trend. Past union
actions caused their own decline. Business can only take so much,
and then they make other decisions.
Now
let us ask another question. Who controls all of the criminal
activity in all major cities. The mobs; prostitution, illegal gambling,
illegal drugs, the numbers racket, bribing of politicians and judges,
etc. That is the biggest group of criminals in America. And
most, if not all, unions are allied with the Democrat's political party.
Any of yall remember hearing, "Vengeance is mine,
sayeth the Lord?" Why are so many of us trying to play like we
are God, and meddle in his business? Or could it be that business
has become too callused, and try to get away with too much, or is it the
attorneys, stirring up stuff, so that they can make a really big score?
Heard one news byte stating that the trial lawyers, close to the top in
the tobacco suit, made $117,000.00 per hour. The man at the top of
that deal was reported as making over a billion dollars. All my
life, I have heard that lawyers have a license to steal. Do any
really think that lawyers care about "we the people?" If
you do, you need to see a shrink.
What
really makes me mad is that God grows tobacco. Needless to say, I
trust God and his tobacco as a medicine, compared to my experience with
man made medicines. Heard a line recently, about western medicine
likes to prolong illnesses, rather than cure them. That makes a lot
of sense to me.
Dear
friends, we have not even begun to scratch the surface of what we as human
beings actually depend on, but you now have a thumbnail of how much
work needs to be done, to get our emotions tied to God enough so that we
will believe that He will take care of us, rather than fighting our way
through this, at times, very cruel world, that could care less about us, as
individuals. In the spiritual realm, when all of our emotions are
tied to what we believe about eternal life, we are healed, if the faith is
non corruptible, at the very end of a very long and agonizing process,
that is excruciatingly painful.
And at
your wits end, God is just waiting for you to reach out to him, with
earnest and wholehearted prayer. God
cares about you.
Let us
now close this web page with this concept. YOU ARE PRECIOUS TO GOD,
NO MATTER WHAT YOU MIGHT THINK.
