Our
research revealed that there are one hundred and forty-two scriptures, in
the King James Version, that have the word darkness mentioned in
them. Before we read a few of them, let us mention all proper names
in the bible have a spiritual
definition.
Therefore, when the scripture mentions Egypt, it does not have anything to
do with geography. In addition to the spiritual meaning, there are
also symbolic references to many of the proper names, in the bible.
Considering
that the Hebrews were slaves - bondage ("relieve me of the bondage of
self"), under the Pharaoh, all spiritual teachers
refer to the land of Egypt, in the spiritual realm, as being the land of
limitation. Another important relative scripture, for this web page,
is that 2 Peter 3:8 states that God thinks of one day as being one
thousand years.
And there
are a few very subtle inferences, in the following scriptures, like the
one that mentions "upright." To this scribe, that means
that we have "stood at our turning point." Since to turn,
in the spiritual realm, means to repent, that means baptized unto
repentance, through the baptism of John, the water baptism; ye shall be
born of water and Spirit. Oh well, you get the picture, we are into
some deep stuff, so hope none are in a hurry. Remember reading, on
page eighty-three, in the bigbook, the following quote:
The spiritual life is
not a theory. We have to live it.
One other
very subtle implication is in the phrase "seeking some to lead him by
the hand." That is why the bigbook states, "... we put
ourselves in God's hands...;" pg 100. Also in that
scripture, it mentions "not seeing the sun, for a season."
That means that our heads are in the clouds with him, and we cannot see
where we are going. "Faith has to work in and through us,
twenty-four hours a day, or we perish," like the big book says, on
page sixteen.
It is important that we have the slogan, "Easy Does It," isn't
it? It just takes much time, and repetition, repetition, repetition,
"One Day At A Time."
Now, let
us repeat a quote from our faith
web page, which is the solution for our path, which leads us out of human
global darkness:
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am
humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly,
and the burden I give you is light.”
(Matthews 11: 28-30 TB)
Do we
need to mention that when we find out how sick we really are, that a
pathology is needed, and the doctor (s) that we have trusted for so long,
do no have a clue of how to get the light that we now need, that is our
only solution? Our path is in the first one hundred and
sixty-four pages of the book Alcoholics
Anonymous, which was established
by the first one hundred folks that became sober members. Sure am
glad that we do not have to gather one hundred people in today's world,
considering how divided most of us are.
So, now
let us reveal quite a few scriptures that do have the subject word of this
web page included in them; darkness. All of these scriptures are
from the King James Version:
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the
land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. (Exodus 10:21)
And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt
three days: (Exodus 10:22)
For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
(2 Samuel 22:29)
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
(Job 34:22)
For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
(Psalm 18:28)
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and
righteous. (Psalm 112:4)
The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
(Proverbs 4:19)
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of
death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isaiah 9:2)
And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not
known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto
them, and not forsake them. (Isaiah 42:16)
And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know
that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. (Isaiah 45:3)
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light,
because their deeds were evil. (John 3:19)
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk
in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12)
And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a
season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead
him by the hand. (Acts 13:11)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers
of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(Ephesians 6:12)
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew
forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous
light; (1 Peter 2:9)
We have
two web pages about what yields the best result, for those that are to be
reborn, the first of which is enemy
and another
web page that goes into detail about how we have to learn how to fit into
the singleness of purpose that the anonymous fellowships demand, for the
desired results of anonymous recovery, that is entitled acceptable.
Let us quote, from that web page, our conclusion, if we can learn how to
live by the spiritual principles, as well as the traditions, to our higher
power's satisfaction.
The
following is our true hope of destiny: 'Arise,
shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth and thick
darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory
appears over you.
Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your
dawn.'
(Isaiah 60:1-3 NIV)
